The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili, met with the foresters in the newly arranged "business yard" in the village of Kvemo Lisi.

"After the adoption of the new Forest Code, forest reform is being intensively implemented, within the framework of so-called "business yards" will be organized in all municipalities of Georgia. "Business yard" provides timber resources to the population. Our goal is to replace social logging with the comfortable services of the Forestry Agency and make both firewood and other timber resources easily accessible to the public. In this regard, the infrastructure that will be created in the last two years will play an important role, "- said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

As Levan Davitashvili noted, the technical park of the National Forest Agency has been developed and strengthened, and instead of a few units, today, the agency has several dozen special equipments.

Further modernization of the agency and equipping it with modern equipment is especially important for the effective implementation of activities.

Arrangement of "business yard" is underway in almost all regions of Georgia. A "business yard" has already been set up in Sagarejo, Gurjaani, and Telavi, where the agency will organize timber production, sorting, and storage.

By the end of the year, 26 "business yards" will be arranged across the country. As a result, forest use for timber production will be much more efficient, illegal logging and negative impacts on the forest will be reduced.
