In Akhmeta, on the territory of the State Forest Fund, inventory works are underway. 26 thousand young foresters are employed in the field works on the area of 56 000 ha. Archil Nikoleishvili, the Head of the National Forestry Agency met with the forester-taxator and got acquainted with the progress of the works on the spot.

the National Forestry Agency, to conduct forest inventory, has prepared a three-month theoretical and practical training course for forest taxators. 26 young foresters were trained by specialists and were employed in the inventory work. Archil Nikoleishvili, the Head of the National Forestry Agency, met with the forest taxators - “One of the main challenges in the forestry sector remains the training of qualified personnel. The development of the field depends on the young qualified staff, which the sector has lacked for years, therefore training and employment of forestry specialists in forest inventory works, as it was last year, remains one of the priorities of the Agency, "- said Archil Nikoleishvili.

The last forest inventory in Akhmeta was carried out in 1993. The process is supported by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). Forest inventory is a prerequisite for sustainable forest management, through which the quantitative and qualitative indicators of forests are assessed and all types of forestry agricultural activities are planned. It has a 10-year audit period. The process has been restored by the National Forestry Agency since 2013. To date, information on quantitative and qualitative indicators of forests under Agency management has been updated for 232,316 hectares, and 10-year forest management plans have been prepared.
